The team addressed the challenge that sodium hydroxide was the only expensive process for sulfur conversion in lead paste obtained from pre-treatment of waste lead-acid batteries. This technology overcame obstacles such as significant morphological differences in lead paste components by developing rapid desulfurization reactions with forced dynamic surface renewal of lead paste particles. This achieved efficient ammonium bicarbonate desulfurization and byproduct utilization, enriching sulfur conversion processes, reducing costs, eliminating secondary pollution and enabling multiple industrial applications.
