This technology uses glycerol, a biodiesel byproduct, to produce 1,2-propanediol via onestep hydrogenation over copper catalysts. The catalyst features high ivity, conversion, and lifespan (hundred-kilogram scale preparation, passing 1,000-hour lifespan tests). Under mild conditions (<200℃ , 4.0MPa), glycerol conversion and propanediol ivity exceed 95%, with product purity ≥ 99.5%. Production costs are over 50% lower than petroleum routes, achieving high-value glycerol utilization and extending biodiesel industry chains.
